Bringing a new company to life in Italy is not an easy task on its own. But what happens when this company expands at the speed of light? How do you manage the transformation of a brand from local to international with all its complexities? Here's how Byte-Code tackled the challenge with GCDS. Who is GCDS? GCDS is an Italian clothing brand operating in the luxury fashion sector, particularly in streetwear. Its name is an acronym for Giuliano Calza Design Studio. After a training period in Shanghai, Giuliano Calza made his international debut with his own creations in 2017. Since then, he has made a stylish impact on contemporary fashion, thanks in part to celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Dua Lipa, and Beyoncé.
Conquering the world: GCDS's pain points GCDS approached Byte-Code with a positive yet challenging pain point. The brand, which exploded both nationally and globally within a few years, had difficulties managing the high number of orders and scaling its presence in foreign markets. A preliminary analysis revealed that the e-commerce team, led at that time by Umberto Tesoro, was using Shopify but only its basic plan, which was clearly insufficient to handle these complexities. That was our starting point. But what was GCDS's goal? Upgrade: An e-commerce with an extra kick Among the most critical points for the e-commerce team was the time spent on order management and fulfilment. This time was taken away from marketing and promotional operations. Therefore, the project's goal was to find a solution that would allow the team to reduce complexity and time spent on order management, with the aim of empowering marketing operations, especially in foreign markets.
